About this site

‘The Duck Side of the Moo’ is a collection of my poetry and fiction.

Most of my writing reflects the lighter side of life – what I call THE MOO. Now and again, though, I get all serious and cross over to THE DUCK SIDE.

How do I find stuff to read?

  • To read the latest posts, select a title from the list of ‘Recent posts’ in the sidebar.
  • Use the ‘Tags’ cloud to find writing by subject matter.
  • Use the ‘Categories’ menu to find specific forms of writing (e.g. short stories, haiku).
  • If you’re looking for something you’ve read before, use the ‘Search’ box to do a keyword search (e.g. elephant, tartan). ‘Search’ will pick up words anywhere in the text, not just the title.

If there’s an ‘Earlier Posts’ link when you get to the bottom of a page, this means there are more stories or poems with the tag, category or keyword you selected. Click on ‘Earlier Posts’ if you want to carry on reading.

How often will there be new stuff to read?

Something new is posted every week. If you would like to receive an email notification whenever a new post is published, enter your email address in the  ‘Subscribe’ box.

Can I copy any of this stuff?

You are welcome to reproduce any of the writing on this site, providing:
1.) You are using it for non-commercial purposes
2.) You quote the entire story or poem, not just an excerpt
3.) You include the tag line (consisting of the copyright symbol, my name and this website’s URL).

I love the cartoon at the top of the page. Who’s it by?

It’s by my friend Jim Doran, a metaphysician disguised as an artist disguised as a metaphysician living in Baltimore, Maryland (USA). Jim’s art is wonderfully quirky, and always seasoned with a generous dose of dark humour. I love it. Check out his website here.
